KINGSTON, Jamaica – ALTHOUGH regional media, including Caribworldnews.com, reported that the surviving members of The Jackson Five would be performing at the Reggae Sum Fest, recent information states that only Tito would be on show.

Tito, born Toriano Adaryll Jackson, is the second of The Jackson Five brothers Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon and Michael who died on June 25, 2009. Steven Andrew ‘Randy’ is the youngest of the Jackson brothers.

According to yardflex.com, the Ministry of Culture issued a release last night stating that Tito Jackson and his band would be travelling to Jamaica today (July 24) to perform at Reggae Sumfest.

There was no mention of Randy or Marlon, who were previously “confirmed”, according to the news source, and the release only mentioned a passing reference to brother Jackie and his wife who were reportedly “thrilled by an invitation” to vacation in Jamaica.

Previously, there was an emergency press conference hosted jointly by Summerfest Productions and the Ministry of Culture that announced that three brothers who were confirmed to travel to the island were Tito, Jackie and Randy Jackson, and that Tito was set to perform on International Night II, Saturday, July 25, alongside his brother Randy.

Apparently, Jackie and his wife were thrilled about an invitation to ‘vacation in Jamaica’ which was extended to the Jackson family by the Prime Minister, Bruce Golding.

The release further stated that the Prime Pinister spoke with Tito and offered the warmth of his country to the family which he would take up on his arrival.

The media house also reported that the government of Jamaica offered members of the Jackson family a vacation in the island to help them deal with the loss of their brother, Michael.

Tito and his band will be flown to Jamaica aboard the private jet of the Sandals Hotel chain boss, Gordon ‘Butch’ Stewart, the Ministry confirmed in its release.
