BASSETERRE, ST.KITTS – July 24, 2009 The Rotary Club of St. Kitts celebrated its 40th anniversary with a church service at the Immaculate Co Cathedral Catholic church on Sunday July 19, 2009 and thereafter with a fellowship brunch for club members, family and friends.
The Club was chartered on July 11, 1969 by deceased Charter President His Excellency Fred Lam and today still has two (2) active charter members in the persons of Past President Kishu Chandiramani and Past Vice President Jacques Cramer.
The Rotaract Club of St. Kitts also celebrated with the Club as well as the President Laverne Caines of the Rotary Club of Liamuiga, and the President Charles Morton of the Rotary Club of Nevis. During the fellowship brunch, the Rotaract Club of St. Kitts installed its new Board for the new Rotaract year 2009/2010. Rotaract President Burnell Nisbett Jr. was pinned by his father, Past President Burnell Nisbett Sr. of the Rotary Club of St. Kitts.
President Gordon Julien of the Rotary Club of St. Kitts described the occasion as momentous in being able to celebrate forty (40) years of service to the St. Kitts community as well as the wider Rotary International community at large.
He highlighted the club’s involvement with the youth especially with the establishment of the Advancement for Children Foundation, the care packages given to the needy, activities for the Children’s home, health screening tests and assistance given to the communities around the Federation. He also thanked the two (2) current charter members for their support over the years.
