8 Resilient Primary School Students Awarded through Tropical Shipping Scholarship Program

    (EMU), St. Kitts, July 3, 2018 -- Tropical Shipping, through its local company, Delisle Walwyn and Company Ltd, announced the recipients for its second annual scholarship program, today at the Irish Town Primary School’s conference room.  

     

    The scholarship program is a result of collaboration between Tropical Shipping and the Ministry of Education.  The decision to create this initiative has shown Tropical Shipping continued commitment to helping the nation’s children as they pursue their academics.  

    “The Ministry of Education wishes to place on record our appreciation to Tropical Shipping for this generous donation,” stated Permanent Secretary, William Hodge.  He continued, “As in your field of business, you continue to take the worry out of shipping, we are also happy that you are seeking to eliminate the worry of some parents and guardians in being able to provide for the academic success of their children.” 

    The scholarship awards outstanding students who exhibit traits valued in academia, and seeks to empower their self-esteem and improve their social-economic status.  

    “Based on submissions and success that we received last year, through its local agent, Delisle Walwyn and Company Ltd, realized that there was indeed a great financial need.  As such, we have increased the awards from four (4) to eight (8) students this year,” announced Abygail Caines –Leader, Assistant Manager at Tropical Shipping St. Kitts.  

    She continued, “The management and staff of Tropical Shipping recognize that children are our future hence, we are elated to partner with the Ministry of Education and our primary schools to award these eight deserving students, and it is our intention to support any initiative that will lead to youth empowerment and the upliftment of our communities.” 

    The recipients of the 2018, Tropical Shipping Scholarship Awards are, Khimeli Jules – Dieppe Bay Primary, Kiquanna Harvey - Saddlers Primary, K’Yon Scott – Violet Petty Primary, Jayden Bradshaw – Edgar T. Morris primary, Trevaughn Maynard – Dean Glasford Primary, Derrica Gilbert – Estridge Primary, De’Anne Abbott Newton Ground Primary, and Hazika Samuel of the Tyrell Williams Primary School.
