One man shot in Nevis, another in St. Kitts

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – TWO men are currently hospitalised after being shot in separate incidents in the twin-island Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis over the weekend.

Reports reaching SKNVibes state that a man was shot early Saturday morning (July 25) in Nevis while an omnibus driver was shot early this morning in St. Kitts.

According to Police Press and Public Relations Office Inspector Cromwell Henry, at about 5:00 a.m. Saturday, while Alvin Sutton of Low Street and Carlos Gumbs of Craddock Road, Nevis were walking from the Déjà vu Night Club in Charlestown to their vehicle that was parked nearby, “a masked man approached and fired several shots at them, hitting Gumbs in the back”.

Inspector Henry informed that after wounding Gumbs, the masked man fled before the police had arrived. He further stated that Gumbs was taken to the Alexandra Hospital, where he is warded in stable condition.

On sister isle St. Kitts, Henry said that at approximately 1:10 a.m. yesterday morning, police responded to a shooting incident in Canada Estate.

“Investigations revealed that omnibus HA226, driven by Jevon Audain of Molineux, was parked on the island main road in the vicinity of Morgan Heights in Canada Estate. While there, three masked men approached the bus and robbed the passenger, Keith Lowry of Phillips’ Village of his wallet containing an undisclosed sum of money and his cell phone. One of the gunmen fired two shots at the vehicle, one of which caught Audain on his right side and he was taken to the JNF Hospital,” Inspector Henry said.

He also said that no one has so far been held in connection with the two incidents but investigations are ongoing.
