BHS Stormers’ Historic Winnings at Trupial Classic 2018

    (EMU), St. Kitts, July 11, 2018 -- Dozens of fans gathered at the Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport yesterday to celebrate the return of the BHS Stormers Athletic Club from Curacao where they participated in the 2018 Trupial Classics. 
     
    Principal, teachers, family and friends personally praised the team’s excellent performance after collectively winning eighteen (18) medals at the track meet, the first team to have ever accumulated such a large number in the history of the meet. 
     
    The team collected its first gold medal of the meet when it won the mixed 4*100 relay during the first day of competition. The team also attained gold in 2k road race, 800 meters and shot put. 
     
    Teacher, Mr. Damon Bacchus, was all smiles as he addressed the gathering; he exclaimed the team did very well at the meet. “The BHS Stormers Athletic Club, would have had an excellent performance at the Trupial Classic in Curacao.  We competed in twelve (12) events and returned eighteen (18) medals, five (5) gold, seven (7) silver and six (6) bronze.” 
     
    Offering praise to everyone involved he continued, “We had a number of athletes who did their personal best over the weekend: congratulations. To our hard working coach, Coach Wallace, congratulations.! Ms. Cindy Smith and Marcia Jeffers thank you. We would like to express a big ‘Thank you’ to all the parents, supporters and well-wishers, thank you again.” 

    The thirteen member team left the Federation on Tuesday 3rd July, to compete in the competition which ran from 6th – 8th July at the National Stadium in Curacao.  
     
    The team also took the opportunity to thank their sponsors for the generous donations and contributions that made the trip possible.  Namely, Diamond Security, St. Kitts Co-operative Credit Unit, Premier Dental, Marshalls, Nagico Insurance, Ally’s Construction, Ministries of Education and Sports and the Basseterre High School’s Principal and Staff.
