Basseterre, St. Kitts, July 17, 2018 – Parliamentary Representative for St. Christopher 2 (Central Basseterre), Hon. Marcella Liburd has expressed profound sadness on the passing of footballer Delroy Delaney.
“I was greatly saddened to hear of the recent passing of Delroy Delaney, who was a goal keeper for (Garden) Hotspurs,” Liburd said in a FaceBook posting. Garden Hotspurs home is in the constituency that Liburd represents.
“Delroy was a talented young man cut down before he had an opportunity to fulfill his dreams. So very sad,” said Liburd, the Deputy Political Leader of the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP).
Liburd extended “heartfelt condolences to his family, his close friends, the Spurs family and those in the wider football community who are left to mourn his loss.”
“Delroy will be greatly missed as he was a role model for our young boys. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” said Liburd, a former national netballer.
