Seven through to Culturama Calypso Finals

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - SEVEN of the 11 calypsonians who competed Saturday night (July 25) in the 2009 TDC Senior Calypso Semi-finals at the Cultural Village have made it through to the Finals. 

    The seven calypsonians are: Astro, who sang ‘One Basket’ and ‘Culturama Rule’; I-Soursop with ‘Too Small’ and ‘Don’t Loose It’; King Meeko with ‘Garden of Eden’ and ‘Nevis Still Nice; Dis n Dat with ‘Hold the Forth’ and ‘Chance to Shine’; Hollywood with ‘De Calypsian Representative’ and ‘Eyes Don’t Lie’; Nutsie with ‘Peace for De Nation’ and ‘Miracle Man’; and Pungwa with ‘Set Dem Free’ and Don’t Blame De Government’.

    Apart from I-Soursop and Pungwa, the third calypsonian from St. Kitts who participated in the Semi-finals is Big Lice. He was however unsuccessful in his bid.

    The seven will be competing against the reigning King, Hussani ‘De Inspirer’ Parris at the same venue on Saturday, August 1 at 9:00 p.m.
