CHARLESTOWN, Nevis, Jul. 20.2018 - LAW enforcement officials on Nevis have been able to take one person into custody following early investigations into yesterday’s armed robbery at the Caribbean Lottery Office in Charlestown, Nevis.
In confirming the robbery, police said that at about 1:40 p.m. on Thursday, (Jul. 19), the Charlestown Police Station received a report of an armed robbery taking place at the Caribbean Lottery Office in Charlestown.
Early investigations so far have revealed that, two masked men entered the office and “pointed what appeared to be a gun at the clerk”. According to a police statement, the clerk managed to escape unharmed and the men proceeded to steal a sum of money and other personal items belonging to persons in the office.
“Because of the promptness with which the report was made, the Police were able to respond quickly. Shortly after the incident, the police carried out a search in a nearby area and were able to recover some of the personal items that had been stolen. The Police were also able to execute a search warrant in relation to the incident; however, nothing was found to satisfy the search,” the police statement read.
