Police hold three in connection to Newtown shooting

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, July 23, 2018 - POLICE on St. Kitts have taken three persons into custody in connection to a recent shooting incident in the Newtown, Basseterre area.
     
    The shooting incident occurred on Sunday, 22 July on Sandown Road.
     
    According to police, at around 3:05 p.m., officers responded to a report of gunshots being heard at Sandown Road; upon arrival the scene, officers were informed that an unknown individual, believed to be a male, pointed what appeared to be a gun into a house and fired several shots then fled the scene.
     
    Police said that a number of persons were present inside the house; however, no one was hurt during the incident.
     
    The scene was subsequently processed by the Forensic Services Unit and items of evidential value were taken into police custody.
     
    Three persons were also taken into police custody on Sunday and are currently assisting with investigations.
