Basseterre - A wonderful night was had by all on Saturday 21st July when in partnership with Serendipity Restaurant and Corks and Screws, the St Christopher Children’s Home celebrated Restaurant Week by holding a ticketed fundraiser event. The event was organized to help raise much needed operating capital for the Home following the deficit in funds raised through the Family Walk Run event held last November. Following the success of the Martini in Style event held in May, the Restaurant Week event in partnership with Serendipity and Corks and Screws showcased both establishments with the plantain themed dinner being accompanied by a wine selection for each course.
The ticket provided each guest with a wonderful 3-course dinner and a wine carefully paired with the delectable dining options. Additional funds were raised through a raffle draw. “This event has once again draw together the community in support of the Home, and it truly warms my heart to see everyone here tonight” Ms. Margaret Stevens, Administrator said during the event. “The menu options that Alex has prepared to embrace celebrating Restaurant Week has given everyone as great choice and I have to say the Plantain soup was to die for!”
Kym Taylor, Chairperson added “ Once again, the public have been wonderful in showing us that the work we do at the Home is important and has value and that they will show their support any way they can.” She continued “With this event, a wonderful meal with great wines has been had by all and we have again raised needed funds for operational expenses such as staff salaries. We pray that the region will be spared any major weather disturbances this hurricane season, and that our Walk Run sponsors and donors are able to support us as they have in the past.”
In addition to the proprietors of Serendipity, Corks and Screws and Kathleen Pessolano of the St Kitts Nevis Restaurant Week organisation, The Board of the St Christopher Children’s Home would also like to thank Ram’s Duty Free, Corks and Screws, Bombay Blues, Rock Lobster, Royal Beach Casino, Mojitoes and Ms Dale Kelley for their kind support and donation of gifts for the raffle.
The 9th Annual Family Fun Walk Run this year will be held Saturday, 6 October 2018 at the Royal St. Kitts Golf Course. For information on membership, volunteering or to make a donation, please call (869) 4654007.
