BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, Jul. 30.2018 – DESPITE intermittent showers, patrons gathered at the Cultural Complex in Nevis were treated to an entertaining evening of junior pageantry, as the Charlestown Primary School copped the Mr. and Miss Talented Youth titles.

Tesean Newton & McKelsya Arthurton teamed up to amass a total 831 points to beat out the five other competing institutions and walk away with the crowns.

They were trailed by Deron Josiah & Hadassah Daniel of Ivor Walters Primary School with 767 points (First runners up), and Tahmarley Wilkinson & Dèquanda Moving of St. Thomas' Primary School with 745 points (Second runner up).

Newton and Arthurton wowed the crowd and the judges alike with their display on stage, winning three of the four judged segments.

The duo took home the Talent Segment, the Prince and Princess Wear Segment and the Question and Answer Segment titles; Wilkinson and Moving took the Cultural Speech Segment award.

Spoils for Charlestown Primary did not stop, as it was awarded the Chairperson's Award, while Josiah and Daniels copped the People’s Choice Award, after amassing a total of 2,736 votes.

Daniel was adjudged Ms. Congeniality, whilst Mr. Congeniality was awarded to Udel Wisdon of the Jocelyn Liburd Primary School.
Nakita Thibou, Chairperson for the Pageant Committee, told SKNVibes that the pageant went well despite the rain hiccups, which they could not control.

During the night’s event, students showcased their talent in presenting and displaying their cultural heritage, and Thibou explained that by hosting such a pageant it continues to instill the cultural values to the young people of the federation.

She noted that children are a vital part of the makeup of the islands and they continue to contribute to culture of the island, hence the development of the show.

“I was a participant in the 2005 Miss Talented Youth Pageant; this pageant has been around for some time, so I think it is a great avenue for the children to display their talent and give their contribution to Culturama.”

Activities for Culturama continues today with several activities, while for Tuesday (Aug. 01) action returns to the Cultural Complex for the Ms. Culture Swimsuit and Mr. Kool Contests.
