CHARLESTOWN, Nevis, Jul. 30, 2018 – LAW enforcement officers have identified the victim in Sunday evening (Jul. 29) homicide as Evanson Smith-Bartlette.
According to a statement from the police force, Smith-Bartlette, 28, was a resident of Stewart Williams Drive, formerly Pump Road.
Based on preliminary investigations by the law men, officers said that at about 9:20 p.m., Smith-Bartlette was about to drive out of his gate when he was attacked and shot by a lone gunman.
Police confirmed that the young man succumbed to his injuries on the scene.
“The police understand that the assailant might have fled the scene in a white or silver motor car which sped up the street towards the bypass road. The public's assistance is being solicited. If there is anyone who might have seen anything suspicious in the area, saw the vehicle or has any other information in relation to this matter, you are being urged to contact the Violent Crime Unit in Nevis by dialing 662-7057 or by contacting your nearest Police Station,” the police statement said.
One person was taken into custody on Sunday evening and is assisting with the investigation.
