According to a police statement, the young man received gunshots to the head and about the body.

Law enforcement officials in confirming Saturday night’s incident recently, revealed that “the assailant might have fled the scene in a white or silver motor car which sped up the street towards the bypass road. The public's assistance is being solicited. “In light of this tragic death last night however, the Nevis Island Administration is taking the further step and hereby announces with immediate effect a revolving fund to provide rewards of EC$25,000.00 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this, and for any other homicide that has been committed on the island of Nevis,” Premier Mark Brantley said.

In addition, the NIA has offered incentives to people on the island to import security equipment that will enhance their safety.

It has also provided the same incentive to security and other businesses on the island looking to import similar pieces of equipment.
