BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, August 3, 2018 (Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister) – The newly crowned Ms. Jaycees Caribbean Queen, Ms. Sheniqua Lanns, received an unexpected surprise on Thursday (August 2) afternoon, when the Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris, led the staff of the Skills Training Empowerment Programme (STEP) in a toast to her success at the 57th staging of the regional pageant on Sunday, July 29, in Antigua.

Ms. Lanns, who is also the reigning National Carnival Queen, is employed as the secretary at the STEP office in Basseterre.

Ms. Lanns displayed the same level of elegance, talent and appeal that earned her the title of Miss St. Kitts to edge out the six other contestants from across the region and the United States Virgin Islands to capture the prestigious Ms. Jaycees crown. She also walked away with the Best Talent and Miss Photogenic titles.

In leading the toast to the 2018 Ms. Jaycees, Prime Minister Harris stated that Ms. Lanns has undoubtedly done herself, her family, friends and the entire country proud.

“You showed that there is no limit where excellence is involved and you therefore, through your excellent display of talent and pageantry, displayed that St. Kitts and Nevis is better than the rest,” Prime Minister Harris said.

Dr. Harris added, “On behalf of all of us, especially your coworkers at the STEP Programme, I want to say how much we love you and how proud we are of you and we look forward to having much more displays of your wonderful talent.”

Ms. Lanns thanked the prime minister and her coworkers for the show of love and appreciation for her hard work and accomplishments, noting, “It was a bit much but I still went out there and I did my best and I was able to become the fifth queen from St. Kitts, so I am very proud of that accomplishment.”

The 2018 Miss Jaycees Pageant forms part of the activities for the Antigua and Barbuda Carnival.
