Governor Jaspert Away From The Territory August 12-27

    BVI, 10 August 2018 - His Excellency the Governor Augustus Jaspert will be out of the Territory on leave from August 12 to 27.

     

    During the absence of the Governor and the Deputy Governor, Acting Attorney General, Ms. Fikile Dlamini will act as Governor on Sunday, August 12 in accordance with Section 37 (1)(b) of the Virgin Islands Constitution Order, 2007 which states:

    “During any period when the office of Governor is vacant, or the Governor is absent from the Virgin Islands or is for any other reason unable to perform the functions of his or her office, if the office of Deputy Governor is vacant, or the Deputy Governor is absent from the Virgin Islands or is for any other reason unable to perform the functions of the office of Governor, such person as Her Majesty may designate by instructions given through a Secretary of State during Her Majesty’s pleasure, act in the office of Governor and shall perform the functions of that office accordingly.”

    On Monday, August 13, Deputy Governor, Mr. David Archer will act as Governor until August 27. Mr. Archer’s appointment is made in accordance with Section 37 (1)(a) of the Virgin Islands Constitution Order, 2007 which states:

    “During any period when the office of Governor is vacant, or the Governor is absent from the Virgin Islands or is for any other reason unable to perform the functions of his or her office, the Deputy Governor shall, during Her Majesty’s pleasure, act in the office of Governor and shall perform the functions of that office accordingly.”

    The public is hereby officially notified on the above matter.  Persons may contact the Office of the Governor or the Office of the Deputy Governor at 468-2195 for additional information.
