Press Release

Basseterre, St. Kitts - The Inland Revenue Department held a very informative and interactive meeting with members of the Bar Association on Tuesday 14th July, 2009 at the Foundation for National Development conference room.

The Association was well represented by a number of prominent lawyers.

Presentations were made by the Inland Revenue Department on the topics of Consumption Tax and the Amnesty initiative. This was followed by an enlightening exchange of ideas in the working session which followed the presentations.

The Inland Revenue Department was able to answer questions posed by the association on the topics presented as well as any other matters of interest. The department was apprised of some concerns of the association and received a number of suggestions for the improvement of the working relationship with the association and the Inland Revenue Department as well as other government departments.

The Inland Revenue Department expresses its gratitude to the Bar Association for its active participation in this exercise and for sharing its thoughts and advice with the department.

In May 2009, similar sessions were held with the Accounting Association and the Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
