BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, Aug. 23.2018 – FOLLOW post mortem examinations, the cause of death for both the late Police Sergeant, Leon Powell and the late Kasim Buchanan have been revealed by the police force.
In the case of Sgt. Powell, who was gunned down in the early hours of Saturday 18th August, police said that Forensic Pathologist, Dr. Valery Alexandrov, concluded that he died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds to the body.
According to police reports, while armed men robbed Powell’s business in his home district of Newton Ground, they shot the sergeant multiple times to the body.put up a struggle during the incident.
In the examination of Buchanan’s body, Dr. Alexandrov concluded that he died as a result of multiple homicidal blunt force injuries combined with multiple stab wounds.
In a media statement on this incident, police said that they received a report at around 6:25 p.m., on Monday (Aug. 20) police received a report by the victim’s girlfriend (no name provided), who lived along with the victim in a house in an alley that connects Nevis Street and College Street Ghaut.
Preliminary investigations by the law men have revealed that the girlfriend left him at home in the morning and upon her return in the evening, found his motionless body in a pool of blood.
The two post mortems were conducted on Tuesday, August 21.
