BASSETERRE, St. Kitts- NINE finalists have been chosen to compete in Antigua’s 2009 Wadadli Beer Calypso Monarch competition slated for Sunday (August 2) at the Carnival Village.
Competing for the title will be Richie Francis, Lena ‘Ivena’ Phillip, ‘King Zacari’, Edmund ‘Douglas’ Dowdie, Leston ‘Young Destroyer’ Jacobs, Algie ‘Dr. Principle’ DeSilva, Keithroy ‘De Bear’ Morson, Shawn ‘King Danskie’ Ryan and Junior ‘Blade’ Stanslaus.
The nine calypsonians were chosen after a total of 24 of them battled for a spot in the Finals at the Falmouth Rectory Grounds on Saturday, July 17.
The show will kick off at 8:00 p.m. where they will come up against Carl ‘Pan Man’ Richards in defence of his crown.
