Basseterre, St. Kitts, August 27, 2018 – As teachers in the twin-island Federation get ready for the start of the new school year, their services have been hailed by a former primary school principal.
“Teachers, as you head back to the classroom tomorrow, I again extend sincere congratulations to you for your tireless work, in service to our young people and to our Federation,” said Dr. Geoffrey Hanley, the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP) candidate for St. Christopher 1 (East Basseterre).
In a statement, Dr. Hanley, who recently retired as principal of the Bronte Welsh Primary School, told the educators that without “your hard work and commitment to the teaching profession, we would be unable to educate this generation or the next!”
“For your unwavering commitment to serving our nation, I shower you with thanks and an abundance of congratulations,” said Dr. Hanley, who added: “As the first day of school approaches, it would be remiss of me not to wish you a success filled school year.”
“May the successes of 2017-2018 school year be deemed attainable in this new school year 2018-2019. May the challenges of the past school year not deter or discourage you, and may you see yourselves as advocates for our children; the future of our nation,” Dr. Hanley said.
He told the education fraternity that their “help to lay the educational foundation for our children and you contribute wholesomely to shaping the character and ideals of our boys and girls.”
“Teachers, I congratulate ALL of you for your noble commitment to serve our young people, and I trust this new school year would be your best ever,” said Dr. Hanley, who is credited with transforming that educational institution in just two years at the helm.
