BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, Aug. 27.2018 – THE 2018 Latin Festival will have a mixed flavor of Spanish and English artistes, as the organizers are looking to bring a Caribbean flavor to this year’s event.

Being held under the theme, ‘One Caribbean’, the October 29- November 4 event will see Jamaican Reggae superstar, Romain Virgo; all female band, Son Divas from Puerto Rico and El Alfa of the Dominican Republic performing.

In its 9th year, the Latin Festival’s main aim is to raise an awareness of the Latin culture to the people of St. Kitts and Nevis, while bringing the Spanish community together.

Chairman of the Festival committee, Jose Rosa told reporters that despite facing challenges this year, they are organizing a festival.

He reminded that the main idea behind the event is to link all the Caribbean cultures with those of the Latin American countries.

“We are one Caribbean, no matter the language that we speak: English, French, Dutch or Spanish,” said Rosa.

For the 2018 event, the organizers have made a change to the venue from the Marriott Resort that was used last year.

The spacious Frigate Bay Lawns will be the location for the event, as organizers indicated that it will provide comfort and will give sponsors more for their advertising dollars.

Committee Member, Aiduliek Rodriguez reminded that they have a week of activities leading up to the festival night, which includes the staging of a workshop with students to give them the exposure to various cultures from across the Latin American region.

He noted that they will be working with the children to ensure that they continue to have the exposure to international musicians from the various genres of music that are offered during the event.

The Latin Festival, since its inception, has been one of the major events on the calendar of activities for the federation.

Officials have acknowledged that over the years they have seen increased participation, especially in the dance competition.

That event has been one of the big draw for patrons, and this year is expected to be no different as the organizers have yet again put up a US$1000 prize for the winning couple.

The 2018 Latin Festival will officially kick off on October 4.
