September 3rd, 2018 -- In celebration of Caribbean Wellness Week, the FIT Wellness Center/FIT Games will be hosting two events on September 8th and 9th on Nevis. The iconic FIT Games Park will be the venue for The Fittest of the Fit Games on Saturday September 8th at 4pm and the Mr. Physique Competition on September 9th. David Walwyn of FIT Games said the idea of the Fittest of the Fit Games is to promote physical activity in a fun way.

The outdoor obstacle park is the only one of its kind in the Federation. “The FIT Games is a competition where teams of four compete against other teams to overcome many challenging obstacles. We have 20 permanent obstacles and another 6 movable obstacles situated across four acres of land,” he said. “This is an open competition where anyone can compete. Cash, medals, trophies and other prizes will be awarded to the winners, second and third place.”

Mr. Walwyn made it clear that the FIT Games will be an ongoing effort in a fight to combat the rise of NCDs (non-communicable disease) such as diabetes, hypertension and various forms of cancers. “The idea is to have quarterly competitions and the combinations are endless such as, Hotels against hotels, business against business, schools against schools, national security games etc.,” he disclosed.

Meanwhile, Mr. Walwyn spoke about the Mr. Physique Competition, which would feature some of the best looking physiques in the Caribbean. “We have guys coming from St. Thomas, St. Croix and Anguilla to participate in this event. The anticipated competitors are creating a lot of excitement” Mr. Walwyn said.

Companies can sponsor teams and individuals to represent their respective business at the FIT Games. Those interested in registering or sponsoring teams can call (869)-66-GAMES. Registration ends on August 31st. Mr. Walwyn highlighted the importance of these two initiatives in the quest to promote wellness and health in the fight against NCDs (Non-Communicable Disease). He particularly pointed out that the FIT Games was designed to not only promote good health in a fun way, but foster community cohesion through team work. The Greenhouse Band will be on the grounds as well to provide entertainment for the events. Tickets can be purchase at the FIT Wellness Center Upstairs Rams Complex in Nevis and the Life Fitness Gym in Bird Rock St. Kitts. Proceeds from tickets sales will go towards a national weight loss campaign.
