By: Suelika N. Creque, SKNVibes
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – KITTITIAN Rap artiste Kwame ‘Dagah’ Samuel, who recently made his first solo performance at the St. Kitts Music Festival, will be adding the finishing touches to his debut album shortly.

The album, titled ‘In Search Of’, will be completed in the United States and, in a previous interview, Samuel told SKNVibes that it [the album] is about him trying to find completion.

“I’m still in search of me trying to find that happiness, love and completion. My style of rapping has changed a lot. I was more of a follower than a leader, and that has changed,” he said.

According to the rapper, the album would feature surprise guest appearances.

“'I'll leave the surprises for when the album drops, all you need to know is that this is major,” he said in a press release.

He also stated that he wants to thank everybody who supported him at this year's St.Kitts Music Festival when he performed on the Friday night event.

“I want to thank all the people who were out there cheering for me at the festival,” he said. “It’s not easy for a Rap artiste from St. Kitts to get that type of love, so thank you very much St.Kitts.”

Samuel was also included on Tempo's 'Badness Outta Style’ School tour which will be aired on Tempo sometime soon.

He is also working on a music video for his hit single ‘Addict’, which is in rotation on radio stations locally and regionally.

Samuel will record, perform and promote himself while in the US and there is no set date on when he will release his album.

He will also be performing in Nevis for a concert that Jamaican artiste Busy Signal will be headlining on September 18.

The 28-year-old hails from Old Road and is undoubtedly one of the best rapper from St. Kitts with clean flowing lyrics.

He was first a member of the Razor Band which came on the scene in 1995 and his involvement was that of back-up vocals and bass guitarist.

During the band’s career, three carnival albums were produced which included a hit titled ‘Yabba Dabba’. The band was managed by Kevin Donovan who is now known as Masud Sadiki.

Before breaking up in 1999, the last album produced by the band was called ‘Good to Go’ in which Samuel first showcased his rapping skills on a track titled ‘I wanna know’.

Samuel said after the band members went their separate ways he decided to dabble into Hip/Hop and Rap music and formed a group called Blunt Killers.

He also has a band which he formed while in New York in 2008 called Carpe Diem, which means “To cease the moment”.

Samuel is the lead singer and they perform a variety of Hip/Hop music with Reggae where he showcases his vocal skills.
