Warner wants police to clear the air on his arrest

By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes.com
    ...…freed of all charges

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, Sept. 05.2018 - FOLLOWING the dismissal on his charges, Simba Warner wants police to clear his name as media reports currently show that he was arrested and charged.

Police in release last November said that Warner was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offences of Obstruction, Resisting arrest, Battery on Police, Failing to comply and Negligently interrupting the free flow of traffic.

They further disclosed that he was granted bail in the sum of $20,000 for his appearance at the Dieppe Bay Magistrate Court on November 06, 2017.

Speaking with SKNVibes News recently, the man confirmed that he was wrongfully charged after he was making an inquiry into a situation that he found to be strange.

He recounted: “On October 25, 2017, I witnessed a police officer giving the police car to a civilian to drive. I further inquired on what I saw, and the officer responded in a non-civil manner and also did not give me satisfactory answers. It led to my arrest for 24 hours and given six charges.”

That encounter led to the man facing jail time. However, following his last court appearance in the Dieppe Bay Magistrate’s Court back in August, he was found not guilty of all the charges.

But a search for his name has shown that he was arrested and placed before the court, with no update that his charges were dropped.

He told SKNVibes that he would like for the police to clear the air on the matter since the court has cleared him of any wrongdoing.

The man posited that he was wrongfully accused in the first instance, and he will leave the matter up to his legal team – the law firm of Dublin and O’Brian- to make a determination on whether to seek damages.

“I was wrongfully arrested, wrongfully detained and my civil rights have been infringed upon….at this time I am calling on the police to respond to the respective media houses to remove my information from the internet – the various websites – and I request that my data, my finger print, my photo id and everything be destroyed in my presence,” he noted.

Police late yesterday afternoon in a statement of arrest and convictions, stated that “Simba Warner of Cleverly Hill, Sandy Point, who was charged for the offences of Obstruction, Resisting Arrest, Battery on Police, Failing to Comply and Negligently Interrupting the Free Flow of Traffic, was found not guilty of all charges.”

The Sandy Pointer noted that he made contact with the Office of the Commissioner of Police and will be writing; he is expecting to receive a response on the matter.
