BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, Sept. 10.2018 – POLICE have slapped charges on a young man in connection to a gun that was found in the Sandy Point area, following a search operation conducted by that law enforcement agency.
According to a statement from the Force’s public relations department, officers were able to trace and link an individual to a firearm that was found during a search operation.
Denzil Stevens alias ‘Ganja Man’, was arrested for the offences of Possession of a Firearm and Possession of Ammunition.
Commissioner of Police Ian M. Queeley recently made the disclosure at a press briefing at the Police Training School.
“On August 18, 2018 the Officers from several units searched an empty piece of land in Sandy Point and one (1) 12-Guage Shotgun with several rounds of ammunition were found. The shotgun and ammunition were taken into Police custody and processed by Technicians at the Forensic Lab,” the statement read.
Police used several investigative techniques and methods to link Stevens to the gun.
Meanwhile, police confiscated another illegal firearm off the streets, when they discovered a .22 pistol with matching rounds in Shadwell.
Police said during a joint operation in Shadwell the weapon and ammunition were found in a structure between two premises. This is the 23rd firearm to be taken into police custody for the year.
