By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes.com
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, Sept. 14.2018 – METEOROLOGISTS have issued a Flash Flood advisory for St. Kitts and Nevis following the passage of Tropical Storm Isaac.

According to the St. Kitts Met. Office, the soils here in St. Kitts and Nevis are saturated or near saturated following the passage of Tropical Storm Isaac and the moisture trailing the storm.

It was noted that since there is a high chance of showers, some of which could be moderate to heavy at times, “we at the St. Kitts Met Services are urging residents to exercise caution in areas prone to flash flooding (ghauts) and rockslides.”

The met office pointed out that a flash flood watch may become necessary during the day.

“We at the St. Kitts Met Services will closely monitor the situation and if needs be, we will issue the necessary watch statement. Eastern Caribbean Forecast: Across most of the Caribbean, lingering moisture and instability associated with Tropical Storm Isaac will result in mostly cloudy skies with periods of widespread showers accompanied by isolated thunderstorms from the British Virgin Islands southwards to Trinidad and Tobago. Some showers could be moderate to heavy at times.”

Tropical Storm Isaac has passed over the Eastern Caribbean and has been downgraded to a Tropical Depression with sustained winds of 35 miles per hour.

Meanwhile, the weather outlook for St. Kitts and Nevis this evening will be partly cloudy to cloudy skies with a 50 percent or moderate chance of showers.
