Water Capacity Expected To Be Doubled By Christmas

    BVI, 21 September 2018 - Minister for Communication and Works, Mark Vanterpool has said the 1.5 million dollars donated by the United Kingdom Government along with funds from the Government of the Virgin Islands has made it possible for the recovery of reservoirs throughout the Territory.

     

    Minister Vanterpool while giving an update of work on the reservoirs on a recent tour of the facilities said reservoirs across the Territory are being repaired or replaced. He stated that reservoirs at Sabbath Hill and Balsam Ghut are complete while work continues at SeaCows Bay and Zion Hill.
     
    Honourable Vanterpool added that the reservoirs that are being replaced include Maya Cove, Jost Van Dyke and Virgin Gorda. He said the Maya Cove reservoir has been upgraded to hold a capacity of 500 thousand gallons of water from its previous capacity of 300 thousand gallons.

    Minister Vanterpool was accompanied by His Excellency the Governor Augustus Jaspert who emphasised that the aim of the project is to develop and build the reservoirs stronger than ever.

    Minister Vanterpool thanked the teams that are involved in the project so far and stated that the water capacity of the British Virgin Islands water reservoirs is expected to be doubled by Christmas of this year.

    The Ministry of Communication and Works is dedicated to ensuring the continued development and maintenance of public infrastructure in keeping with international standards so that public utilities are reliable and affordable in support of an enhanced community life for every resident and visitor in the Virgin Islands.
