Edwin Yearwood crowned Crop Over Road March King; Red Plastic Bag nine-time Calypso Monarch

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - BAJAN Soca sensation Edwin Yearwood, who performed at 13th Annual St. Kitts Music Festival on Monday, August 3, took the 2009 Crop Over Road March King title after amassing 14 points.
     
    The Krosfya lead vocalist sang ‘In the middle of the road’, beating out Mikey’s ‘I in dat’ into second place while Red Plastic Bag came in third with ‘Something happening’.
     
    According to CaribWorldNews.com, Yearwood was quoted as saying that he is proud of the song’s success and of the win.
     
    Meanwhile, Red Plastic Bag was crowned Banks LIME Pic-O-De-Crop Calypso Monarch, making it his ninth time taking the title while outshining nine other calypsonians.
     
    John King took the First Runner-up spot and he was followed by Blood.
     
    The Barbados Carnival wrapped up Monday (Aug. 3) and took place under the theme “Crop Over 09 Celebrating We Heritage! More Than a Carnival…Sweet Fun Days!”
