At the opening of the Cayon Constituency Office of the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party in St. Christopher #8, on Tuesday August 4, 2009, the Constituency Young Labour Movement officially unveiled three cyber tools to reach the young and tech-savvy voters registered in that constituency.
Young Labour Activist, Valisha Liburd was on hand to display the official campaign website, www.votecedric.com and the official facebook and hi5 web pages for direct interaction between Minister Liburd and his constituents.
Created around the “Safer Hands. Clear Vision.” theme of the campaign, the website offers each visitor in words, sound and illustrations highlights of the accomplishments of Minister Liburd and Labour in Constituency #8 from 1995 to the present.
Ms. Liburd explained that the website and webpages would be continuously updated to highlight the mission and dedication of Minister Liburd whose desire it is to reach all constituents.
The feedback of those at the launch was positive. One constituent spoke glowingly about the facilities and their provision for interacting with the Minister and knowing more about him.
“I always knew Cedric was a good man and now I can endorse him for the world to know that he is the man for this constituency,” the young man said.
Candidate Cedric Liburd has praised the young people for doing their part to educate their peers and encouraged their active participation in the electoral process. “Young Labour has proven that our investments in education and technology are reaping the great reward. Young Labour has carried our campaign to places it had never been before. We now have the capability to reach those voters who sit in the quiet of their homes and want to make a decision away from the noise of main street politicking. Thanks to Young Labour we are able to do so in 2009.”
These web tools are expected to form an integral part of the Labour campaign to secure a fourth consecutive term in office.
