BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – RESULTS of autopsies performed on the bodies of the Federation’s latest murder victims have been released.

A police press release dated August 5, informs that Barbadian Forensic Pathologist Dr. Stephen Jones performed the post mortems on Tuesday, August 5, 2009. In the case of 35-year-old Maxwell Christopher, Dr. Jones concluded that death was due to gunshot injuries to the head while the death of 31-year-old Stephen ‘Lick Shot’ Thomas was caused by gunshot injuries to the chest and abdomen.

Christopher, a Tabernacle Village resident, was the Federation’s 16th murder for the year and he met his demise on August 1, when he was discovered by police “lying in the main road of Tabernacle Housing Project with a bullet wound to his head.” The young man was pronounced dead on scene by District Medical Officer Dr. Garfield Alexander.

Police had indicated shortly after the incident that no one was held in connection with the crime.

Just a couple of days after Christopher’s death (Aug. 3), Thomas - a Kittitian who resided by his girlfriend in Stoney Grove, Nevis - was attacked by gunmen.

Reports suggest that Thomas was at a Nevis entertainment hot spot, the Bull Pen, where he was involved in an altercation involving a group of men which continued into the streets. Reports further suggest that the man made an attempt to escape his attackers and was shot in the process.  He was pronounced dead on the spot by District Medical Officer Dr. Chandy Jacobs.

Police had informed that two men were in custody assisting with investigations into the matter but later informed that no arrests have been made in the case.

The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force is appealing to members of the public who may have information that would assist in solving these murder cases to pass it on to the police.

Persons with information surrounding Thomas’ murder are asked to contact the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in Nevis at 469-5391, and persons with information relative to Christopher’s murder are asked to contact the Tabernacle Police Station at 465-7227 or the CID in St. Kitts at 465-2241 ext 230, 220 or 236. The authorities have assured that any information passed on to them would be “held in strict confidence.”
