Police net illegal ammunition from Prickley Pear Alley resident

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – POLICE continue to report success in removing illegal guns and ammunition from the streets of St. Kitts and Nevis, after one of its latest operations netted several .38 ammunition.

    In a media release, the police force indicated that a woman was charged for Possession of Ammunition following a search operation conducted by officers on Tuesday (Oct. 02).

    Police said the operation was carried out at the ferry terminal late Tuesday afternoon.

    According to the force, officers intercepted a package that was collected from a ferry and, upon searching it, they found five .38 rounds of ammunition.

    Two persons were taken into police custody in connection to the find.
     
    Tameika Pereira of Prickley Pear Alley was charged for the offence of Possession of Ammunition. She has received bail in the sum of $7,000 with two sureties for her appearance at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on November 05.
     
    Police said the second individual remains in custody as investigations into the matter are ongoing.
