BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – SKNVIBES’ PEP Radio host Leslie ‘Sugar Bowl’ Morton has taken his professionalism to higher heights, as he is getting ready to travel to Anguilla to participate as MC for the 13th annual Leeward Islands Calypso Competition, where a large group of calypsonians will be vying for the crown at Landsome Bowl on Saturday, August 8.

The competition is being staged as one of the events of Anguilla’s Summer Carnival held under the theme “Unite and Fete It’s Culture Time-Anguilla Summer Festival 2009”.

Representing St. Kitts will be the ‘four-peat’ Monarch, Konris Maynard, while the recently-crowned Culturama Senior Calypso Monarch, Calvin ‘I-Soursop’ Johnson, will be representing sister isle Nevis.

Kittitian-born calypsonian ‘King Ellie Matt’, who has won 10 Calypso Monarch titles and seven Road March titles, is scheduled to make a special appearance at the competition.

The Mighty Springer of Anguilla took the title last year, winning the judge’s approval with ‘Time for change’ and ‘How did we really get to this’.

King Socrates and Ayatollah represented St. Kitts in past competitions.
