BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, October 11, 2018 (Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister) – The names of seventy (70) of the most outstanding men and women to have graduated from the University of the West Indies (UWI) are now forever immortalized at the University’s Cave Hill Campus in Barbados after plaques were unveiled in their honour.

The plaques bearing the names of all seventy alumni were unveiled by Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris, with assistance from Dr. Lilith Haynes, following the ceremony to honour the 70 outstanding UWI graduates who have made significant contributions in public service, the medical and legal fields, academics and economic development.

Prime Minister Harris was among two leaders of the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis to have been honoured by the University of the West Indies, along with Senior Minister the Honourable Vance Amory. Both were recognized by UWI in the areas of Leadership and Public Service.

The honouring ceremony was held on Wednesday (October 10) at the Quadrangle located on the Main Campus of UWI’s Cave Hill Campus.

The names of the 70 exemplary UWI alumni now hang prominently in the halls of the Leslie Robinson Building—named in honour of the late Professor Leslie Robinson, the first Principal of the UWI, Cave Hill Campus.
