BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, October 17, 2018 (PLP PR Media Inc.) -- The final segment of play saw action on Tuesday October 16 at only three venues, instead of the original six, in the second round of the round-robin stage in the 23rd edition of the annual Constituency Number Seven Dr the Hon Timothy Harris Domino League competition.

Semi-finalist Lodge, who are also the defending champions, came up against the other semi-finalist Unstoppable at the Lodge Community Centre in Lodge Project. The two had already qualified and the meeting which saw Lodge beat Unstoppable 13-4 was a mere formality to prove their high level of sportsmanship.

It was however a different domino game in Constituency Number Six. The only semi-finalist out of the two teams from the constituency, Parsons Domino Club were at their home base, Bradshaw Bar on the Island Main Road in Parsons Ground, waiting for their opponents Beers who failed to show up. Parsons went ahead and bagged a 13-0 default win over Beers.

The other semi-finalist, Unity Domino Club, had an easy time at their home base Cuban Bar in Lodge Project playing against Molineux. The home team won 13-3. In the final match played on Tuesday evening October 16, Sylvers beat Guinness 13-11 when the two met in Bernette Bar, Hidden Alley, in Lodge Village.

Two other games scheduled for Tuesday evening were won by default. Christchurch Domino Club waited for Phillips Domino Club in Domino House in Mansion Village and the visiting team did not show up, giving Christchurch a 13-0 win by default. Members of the Saddlers Domino Club were expected to host Small Corner Bar Domino Club at Shanty Bar in Saddlers Village, but while the visitors showed up, Saddlers could not raise enough players. Small Corner Bar returned to Constituency Number Seven with a 13-0 win by default.

Points standing for the top four teams at the end of the second round are, Lodge 116 points; Parsons 109 points, Unity 108 pints; and Unstoppable 88 points. Coordinator of Constituency Number Seven Dr the Hon Timothy Harris Domino League, Calvin Farrell, has given notice that semi-finals of the 23rd edition of the competition will be held on Thursday October 18 at the Lodge Community Centre in Lodge Project.

After their meeting on Tuesday, defending champions Lodge will again meet Unstoppable now in a semi-final match, while the immediate former champions Unity will be facing Parsons. The two matches will take place simultaneously and according to Coordinator Farrell, they will start at 7:00 pm.

This year’s edition of the annual Constituency Number Seven Dr the Hon Timothy Harris Domino League competition initially had 14 teams, but after the withdrawal of Tabernacle Domino Club who did not even finish their first round assignments, thirteen teams were left to battle it out for supremacy.

While four teams are into the semi-finals, league coordinator Calvin Farrell has indicated that only five of the remaining teams will take part in the Best of the Rest competition which will be held on Monday October 22. Four teams have been knocked out of the Best of the Rest competition by Clause 24 of Rules Governing Constituency Seven Domino League 2018.

Clause 24 states that, teams that default a game will not play Best of the Rest if that team does not reach the top four. Affected by the clause are Phillips, Beers, Saddlers, and Christchurch domino clubs. Taking part in the Best of the Rest will be Sylvers, Molineux, Giants, Small Corner Bar, and Guinness domino clubs.

By virtue of having the best results among those taking part in the Best of the Rest competition, Sylvers gets a bye to the semi-finals. In the two pre-semi-final matches that will be played simultaneously on Monday October 22 at the Lodge Community Centre in Lodge Project, Giants will face Small Corner Bar, and Molineux will face Guinness.

According to league coordinator Calvin Farrell, the winner of the two matches who will get the best results will get a bye to the final. Sylvers will play the team with the second best win at a date to be announced and winner will move to the final to meet the other finalist. Mr Farrell is making an appeal to all domino lovers to turn out in their large numbers to witness the final stages of the longest running domino league in the Federation.
