Caribbean Lotto to be replaced by new surprise

By: VonDez Phipps, SKNVibes

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE Caribbean Lottery has announced that one of its popular games, Caribbean Lotto, is going into retirement shortly to make way for a fresher, bigger and better jackpot game.

The bi-weekly Caribbean Lotto draw has allowed individuals from around the region a chance to win huge monetary prizes from its midweek and weekend picks.

To date, there have been eight Kittitians and Nevisians whose luck won them hundreds of thousands of dollars during the 12 years that the game has been offered across the Caribbean. Prizes in Caribbean Lotto start from EC $200 000, and with its system of roll over players stand the chance of winning EC $1 million from the jackpot.

Speaking exclusively with SKNVibes, Caribbean Lottery Office Manager (SKN) Valarie Sprouse thanked all the public for patronizing the company over the years, particularly with its Caribbean Lotto game. Although she declined to give a date when the game will no longer be offered, she assured that the new service is bound to be “bigger and better”.

“I think we have had a big impact on the Federation with the Caribbean Lotto because we helped some persons realize their dreams, even though they may not have won the jackpot. Right now, we sponsor the primary school [netball] tournament and have done so for the last three years, so we have maintained our commitment to giving back to the community,” Sprouse said.

She made it clear that the decision to end Caribbean Lotto is not as a result of the ongoing global financial crisis by which the nation has been adversely affected.

Rather, she said that Caribbean Lottery wanted to offer its players a more exciting and creative product that would not only increase their chances of winning, but would also build their interest in the game.

“We want it to be a big surprise! We are going to finish with Caribbean Lotto and we are going to offer something bigger and better. We look forward to it, we feel excited and we hope our first winner will come from St. Kitts-Nevis. So, we encourage you to play the new game,” Sprouse stated.

As of last week, the Caribbean Lotto jackpot stood at EC $1 050 000, and according to the Office Manager, if it is not won on the night of the final draw, the jackpot will be distributed among lower prize levels.

She explained, “Once you’ve matched 5, 4, or 3 numbers correctly, you get a share of the money. So get your Caribbean Lotto tickets today and share the excitement!”

Other games offered by Caribbean Lottery, including Pick 3, Pick 4, Keno and Doubles, will remain in order to continue giving thousands a chance to win big!
