Charlestown, Nevis (Tuesday, October 23,2018) -- On the heels of winning the leadership of the Nevis Reformation Party (NRP) on Sunday, October 21st during the very well attended NRP convention, Mr. Robelto Hector told the attentive crowd that he is ready to push forward. “I know today, as I emerge as party leader, you are as proud as I am of the successes in my political journey. You have showered me with generosity, passion and genuine support. I am prepared, with your support, to take the NRP to victory at the polls.”
Mr. Hector seized the opportunity by thanking his constituency of St. Paul’s. “They have stuck by me during the high times and the low times,” he noted. He also gave a very grateful thanks to the outgoing party leader, the Hon. Joseph Parry for his outstanding leadership over the years.
“I applaud his hard work and commitment to the continued growth of the Nevis Reformation Party (NRP). Mr. Parry, your stewardship over the years has been characterized by innovative ideas, strategic thinking and your tireless efforts to increase the credibility and visibility of this party.”
During Mr. Hector’s victory speech, he talked about his vision going forward stating that within the next 60 days, he pledges to visit every constituency branch in order to interact with all constituents in an effort to facilitate the formulation of a “bottom–up” approach. As he said this will be done in an effort to strengthen the party.
Like all of the other speeches of the convention, Hector focused on the task of the party strengthening its internal structures. He said this is extremely important that the party itself is “re-organized and re-branded” so that the NRP can take its rightful place in regaining government in Nevis.
The crowd cheered loudly as the new party leader told the audience that he intends to bring a new era of politics to the party and to the island. “We as a party will be keener on listening and consulting with the people so as to ensure that the best interest of all is being served,” stated Mr. Robelto Hector.
He called on all NRP supporters to ‘let bygones be bygones’ and to recommit themselves to defeating the Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM) at the next Federal elections.
Hector concluded, “For me, today is a day of transitioning, not one of celebration. True victory will come at the polls and we must continue to work hand in hand on this journey.”
