Newtown, Conaree register wins

Conaree and Spurs players during Sunday night’s match
By: Andre Huie, Press Release

October 25th, 2018 -- After a drought of goals the night before, the SKNFA National Bank Premier league Sunday action did not disappoint, as there were two matches of the three that produced some excellent goals. S-Krave Newtown United delivered a killer blow to Elco Ltd. St. Peters with a 3-1 victory, condemning St. Peters to the bottom of the table, still to register a point.

As was the case in their match just before the international break, St. Peters took the lead in the 10th minute courtesy of a Kareem Harris penalty kick. But St. Peters for a second straight time failed to hold on to that lead and succumbed to three Newtown goals in the second half. Geovanie Lake sored in the 40th minute from a horrible goal keeping error, Jayan Duncan scored a contender for goal of the season with shot on the edge of the 18 yard box that slotted right in the V of the goal in the 68th minute, while Akimba Lawrence scored a penalty in the first minute of stoppage time.

The day’s first match ended in a 0-0 all stalemate, continuing from the trend the night before where both matches ended in nil all draws. The only highlight of that match was that Tiquanny Williams and Dornell Bernier were both issued red cards in stoppage time. Finally, in the match up of the weekend, SOL IAS Conaree bounced back from their shock defeat to Mantab to defeat Hobson Enterprise Garden Hotspurs 2-0.

Coach Alexis Morris of Conaree said “They have done everything that we did in training for the past week and a half,” Coach Morris said.

“Once we decide to do what we do in training on the pitch, we are a force to reckon with,” he added.
