30th October 2018 -- The XV11 edition of the Pan American Games will be held in Lima, Peru from 26th July to 11th August 2019 and the St Kitts and Nevis Olympic Committee (SKNOC) wishes to inform the public that eligible Member National Federations are currently receiving much-needed financial assistance to enable participation in qualifying competitions. This is in further keeping with the SKNOC’s objective of increasing the number of sports participating in multi-sporting Games that falls under its ambit like the Pan Am Games and the Olympic Games as outlined in its 2017- 2020 Strategic Plan.
The latest beneficiary of such financial assistance is the St Kitts Nevis Football Association whose Male Under-20 National Football team has since 2008 enjoyed financial support from the SKNOC towards participation in qualifying events for the Pan Am Games that are held every four (4) years. The Male Under-20 National Football team will participate in the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association of Football (CONCACAF) Pan Am Games Qualifiers in Tampa, Florida over the period 1st to 10th November, 2018.
The SKNOC’s contribution to the team’s participation in the CONCACAF qualifier is approximately Thirty Nine Thousand United States Dollars (USD $39,000.00) which is being utilised in the purchase of airline tickets, accommodation, meals, uniform and other associated expenses of the team.
The entire SKNOC’s Executive extends best wishes to the SKNFA’s Male Under 20 National Football team in their quest to win the tournament in Florida in order to secure participation in the 17th Pan American Games. The SKNOC continues to remain optimistic that its objective will materialise during this quadrennial.
