By: MoE, Press Release

(EMU) – St. Kitts, November 6, 2018: The Ministry of Education is welcoming support for the Nation’s youth at the 2018 National STEM Fair which will feature student’s projects and experiments. The first of its kind event will be held on November 8th-9th at the Independence Square from 10:00 – 5:00 p.m.

STEM, which is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, is a great way to excite students about Science and its related fields while developing their organizational skills, and enhancing their writing and oral presentation skills.

The focus of the STEM Fair is to highlight the remarkable work that is happening in our classrooms.  “It is going to be a grand event!”According to STEM Fair and Science Coordinator, Mr. Olston Strawn.  He continued, “St. Kitts will come alive featuring the exquisite exhibits from our students from primary and secondary schools.”

Students will showcase how they integrate STEM skills and knowledge not only in the classroom but in everyday life.  Entries will be rated by a panel of fifteen judges. Projects will be judged in a wide range of criteria from presentation of the display, to accuracy and innovation.

This is an opportunity to connect students, parents, and educational professionals, the ministry spokesperson said.  Both primary and secondary school students will display their projects at this event for a chance to win top prizes and receive recognition for their hard work.

The 2018 National STEM Fair is generously hosted by the Ministry of Education through its executing department, the Curriculum Development Unit.  The fair is open for public viewing on both days, November 8-9 from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.  The media is invited to see the Nation’s young innovators in action.
