BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, November 9, 2018 (PLP PR Media Inc.) -- A calendar of three weeks of activities to mark the 25th anniversary of Prime Minister Dr the Hon Timothy Harris as a parliamentary representative for Constituency Number Seven was officially unveiled to the public on Thursday November 8 at a press conference held at the Edgar T. Morris Primary School in Tabernacle.

Deputy chair of the Planning Committee for the 25th Anniversary Celebrations, Mr Antonio Maynard, said that Dr the Hon Timothy Harris who was born into humble circumstances had earned his way into the upper echelons of politics and academia and society, and was elected to parliament in 1993 and won his seat five more consecutive times, and became St. Kitts and Nevis’ third Prime Minister in 2015.

Mr Maynard who chaired the five-person panel at the press conference told the audience and the country and thousands who followed the event by radio, television and on the internet, noted that while Dr Harris was still serving his constituency for twenty five uninterrupted years, it was “certainly a cause to celebrate and to honour him. Dr Harris is a humble man - in fact he is a great man who has risen to higher heights based on hard work and determination to succeed.”

The committee, which is headed by Mr Anthony Ross, QC, was established in September 2018 and was charged with the responsibility to plan and oversee the activities to commemorate the great milestone. Others on the press conference panel were Mrs Elreter Simpson-Browne, Mr William Phillip, Mr Manasses Huggins, and Ms Trevlyn Stapleton.

“For me it is indeed an awesome privilege to be able to congratulate our beloved Prime Minister and Parliamentary representative for Constituency Number Seven, Dr the Honourable Timothy Harris,” said Mrs Elreter Simpson Browne. “Dr Harris has been an inspiration and motivation and a source of encouragement for all of us in Constituency Number Seven and the country at large.”

According to Mrs Simpson-Browne, activities kick off on Sunday November 11 with a church service at the House of Deliverance New Testament Church of God on Main Street in Tabernacle Village at 10:00 am. The second church service will be on Sunday November 18 at the Antioch Baptist Church in St. Johnson Village at 9:30 am, while the third service will be at the Liberty New Testament Church in Molineux on Sunday November 25 at 10:00 am.

“On 2nd December our celebratory event will conclude with worship at The Pentecostal Church of God, Saddlers Village, and service begins at 10:00 am,” noted Mrs Simpson-Browne. “I therefore take this opportunity to invite all his (Prime Minister Harris’) constituents and well-wishers to come and worship with us. However, if you are unable to be there, you will be able to see the services on ZIZ TV at 4:00 pm each Sunday.”

According to Mrs Simpson-Browne, keys for two custom-designed fully furnished two bedroom houses will be presented, one on Friday November 16 at Molineux Extension, and the other on Wednesday November 28 at Catholic Street Housing Development in Molineux.

On Thursday November 29, which is the actual anniversary when Dr Harris was first elected to Parliament, a Town Hall and Panel Discussion under the theme ‘The Journey’ reflecting on his journey from 1993 to 2018 will be held at the Estridge Primary School Hall at 7:30 pm. At the same forum, some 25 well deserving persons will be presented with awards.

“The final event I would like to mention is the Gospel concert and this will be held on Sunday November 25 in Tabernacle at the Edgar T. Morris School Ground from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm,” said Mrs Simpson Browne. “This one is going to be big and let me also add, free of charge. We will be featuring a host of local church groups and individual artists but the highlight for the night will be a very special international artist with a powerful testimony. I don’t think that anybody would want to miss this one.
