BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – AMERICAN R/B artiste and actor Tyrese Gibson recently performed in Tortola for the Carrot Bay Festival to which his explicit act received mixed reviews.

The international superstar not only croon with his hits ‘Sweet Lady’, ‘How you gonna act like that’ and more, but went from unzipping his fly to using explicit language onstage.

According to the bvinewsonline.com, some patrons left the concert with a sour taste in their mouth and stated that it was inappropriate for the singer to ask the ladies in the crowd if they wanted to have his baby.
“Any ladies out there want to have a baby with me…we can name him Tyrese Jr. and raise him here in Tortola,” the site reported the singer as saying.

It was also reported that Gibson used the ‘F’ word repeatedly onstage and that the last time was when he stated his time was up.
“They are telling me that I need to go now…I say
    F*&@k Em!”

There was also a segment of Gibson’s performance when one of the back-up dancers went on stage clad in a black bikini. She placed herself in a horizontal position on the stage and began gyrating seductively, during which time the singer walked over and squirted water on all parts of her body.

He also took off his shirt and slowly and teasingly unzipped his pants to showcase his gray underwear.

Persons questioned if such actions would have been allowed if the performer were a local artiste.

“He was sensual fine. No problem. But the indecencies used are not only disrespectful to me but illegal in the BVI. I am taking nothing away if you had fun great for you. But I hope if a local artist does this it is still ok with you,” said a blogger known as The Truth.

“What a thing, you can't please everyone. So what if Tyrese was a bit suggestive in his performance - he's a sex symbol for heaven's sake,” said another.

You paid a man to come here and perform you have to let him perform,” said a young woman. “Kids are to home and Christians are suppose to be home praying…It’s an adult show keep yo children at home. They are children and need to keep a child’s place and that’s in their house asleep.”

In the past at the St. Kitts Music Festival, a few performers were noted as extreme and, in 2003, American Rapper DMX was charged for using indecent language while performing
