BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, November 19, 2018 (PLP PR Media Inc.) -- Prime Minister Dr the Hon Timothy Harris, who is the National Political Leader of the Peoples Labour Party (PLP) one of the three parties in Team Unity Administration that swept into power after the 2015 elections, on Sunday November 18 thanked his Cabinet colleagues for the support they have given him.

Dr Harris who was first elected to parliament on 29th November 1993, and overwhelmingly re-elected to the august house in five consecutive elections, took time to thank his Cabinet colleagues at a special church service held at the Antioch Baptist Church as part of celebrations to mark the 25 years of service not only to his constituency, but to the country.

“I want to say thank you to Cabinet colleagues who have been with me and who have helped me, because indeed all that we have been able to accomplish so far has been a team work,” said Prime Minister Harris. The service on Sunday November 18 was the second following the one held on Sunday November 11 at the House of Deliverance New Testament Church of God in Tabernacle.

The Honourable Prime Minister offered a special ‘thank you’ to the Team Unity family noting that “without your considered support - your determination that the country needed something new and different and your commitment to follow through on it, we would not be here perhaps having this particular celebration.”

At the special church service celebrating the 25 years of service by Dr the Hon Timothy Harris, which was also attended by the Governor General His Excellency Sir Tapley Seaton, GCMG, CVO, QC, JP, were Cabinet colleagues the Hon Eugene Hamilton and the Hon Lindsay Grant, and other senior Government officials. It was led by Pastor Lincoln Connor.

Dr Harris said he owed his Cabinet colleague a debt of gratitude for their support, counsel, and corrections, which added to the quality of leadership he held on their behalf. He asked God to guide the Cabinet of St. Kitts and Nevis to continue to do good, to continue to serve humbly, and to continue to follow instructions in the book of Micah about justice and mercy and the delight of the Lord will always be on this land.

“Thank you for allowing me to serve,” concluded Prime Minister Harris. “Thank you for your support over the years and for all that has been accomplished and all that can be accomplished. I say to God be the glory. Thanks to all of you.”

In the meantime, Peoples Labour Party’s Deputy National Leader Senator the Hon Akilah Byron-Nisbett who did the scripture reading from Luke 14: 15-24 implored the church membership to be of service and help a family on Millionaire Street, in West Basseterre, whose home was gutted by fire on Saturday November 17.

“A family in this community lost everything in a fire,” said the Hon Byron-Nisbett. “It is our opportunity now to be of service to people just as the Prime Minister has been for the past 25 years. The family lost everything, a mother and her four children, two boys and two girls. Just before I came to service I stopped there by the family and they are accepting anything, whatever it is they will be thankful as small as it is.”

The PLP Constituency Number Seven Choir rendered the song ‘You deserve it’ during the service. Prime Minister Harris commended its members for the wonderful job they have been doing saying they are among the best singers in the country. He especially thanked the young choir members who have recently come on board, and Ms Juanita Johnson who led the choir.
