BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE Federation was made a bit safer after the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force was successful in seizing an illegal firearm from its streets.

A press release issued by the Police Press and Public Relations Office informs that on Saturday, August 8, members of the District B Police went to the home of Kasim Liburd of Green Tree Housing Project and executed a search warrant for controlled drugs, arms and ammunition.

During the exercise the officers discovered a .25 pistol and 10 rounds of ammunition in the dwelling place.

Liburd and two other occupants of the house, Dean Fredricks and Jevon Liburd, were taken into police custody along with the items.

The press release further informs that the three men were arrested and charged with “possession of illegal items”.

SKNVibes understands that the men are expected to appear before the court to answer to their charges shortly.

The seizure of this firearm pushes the number of illegal firearms removed from the Federation’s streets for the year up to 20.

Just about three weeks ago the 19th firearm was seized. According to a police press release, the circumstances surrounding the find are that Joseph Fahie was shot by police officer after he attempted to stop and search him.

Among the items found on Fahie’s person were one .357 Smith and Wesson revolver and five rounds of ammunition. Fahie was taken into police custody, charged with gun and ammunition possession and remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison.
