BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, November 23, 2018 (PLP PR Media Inc.) -- A mere three days after Parsons Domino Club would have been declared champions of the 23rd edition of the annual Constituency Number Seven Dr the Hon Timothy Harris Domino League competition, the club has suffered a loss in the less prestigious ‘champion of champion’ clash of the same tournament.
The hotly contested and lively encounter was held at the Lodge Community Centre in Lodge Project on Thursday November 22, where the overall champions Parsons met Best of the Rest champions Molineux Domino Club. At the end the clash early Friday morning at 12:03 am, Molineux captain Jacob Nisbit and his players jumped up jubilation after subjecting Parsons a 21-14 beating.
It was a special encounter as the winner needed to win 21 games, and players were on three tables. Parsons started on a high note with each of the three tables giving them a win each before Molineux found their footing. Molineux got their first point from table one, followed quickly by double points from table three to tie the match at 3-3.
Constituency Number Seven Dr the Hon Timothy Harris Domino League coordinator Calvin Farrell was the scorer for tables one and two, while Glenda Romney of Parsons acted as the scorer for table three.
Molineux moved ahead from table three with a win but from table two Parsons added a point to tie the match at 4-4 and quickly grabbed another point from table one to lead temporality before Molineux earned double points from table two to lead 6-5. Parsons equalised from table three before Molineux moved ahead from table one to retake the lead at 7-6.
At that juncture, Parsons’ players on table one vacated and were replaced by Glenda Romney and Elvis Norford. That action left Calvin Farrell as the scorer for the three tables, a job he did with aplomb earning respect from all the players as no one complained about the complicated scoring regime.
The match got tighter, and Molineux showed scant respect for the newly crowned Constituency Number Seven Domino League champions by putting on pressure and the nearest Parsons got close to them they would be two points adrift. After the scores got to 19-14, it appeared as if Parsons got stuck as at 12:03 am (Friday morning) from table two where Captain Jacob Nisbit was playing with Jamie Brombill stood and pumped in the air after they would have delivered the game that gave them the win 21-14.
According to Calvin Farrell, coordinator of the Constituency Number Seven Domino League which is sponsored by Prime Minister and Area Parliamentary Representative for Constituency Number Seven Dr the Hon Timothy Harris, date for the presentation of awards and prizes will be announced shortly at a venue yet to be announced, but in Constituency Seven which is celebrating the 25th anniversary of Dr Harris’ service to the people of St. Kitts and Nevis as a parliamentarian.
