A Walk in the Park: Village Trounce St. Peters 4-0

Action between Village and St. Peters
By: Andre Huie, Press Release

November 29th, 2018 -- The defending champions are at the top of the table and they made sure on Sunday they stayed there. Rams Village Superstars took a stroll in the Park—the Warner Park to be exact—with a resounding 4-0 win over struggling Elco Ltd. St. Peters in National Bank Premier League action.

Kimaree Rogers had a Man of the Match performance with two goals in the 20th & 27th min as well as Joseph Wilkes also scoring two goals on the other side of the break in the 55th & 59th min. Coach Stephen Clarke of Village said they wanted to ensure the international break would not slow them down. “Coming off the international break we really wanted to step it back up because it’s a habit we have coming off two weeks, we always start slow,” Coach Clarke said. He said they have already set their goals and they will work hard not to drop points or become lackadaisical.

Coach Azem Jenkins of St. Peters said that his team did not capitalize on their chances and stressed they must get all three points from their next match against Mantab. “I think the passing was poor in a lot of areas. (We failed) to capitalize on chances whenever we were in the dangerous areas,” he said. Some of the players on Jenkin’s team have just returned to the squad after missing the early part of the season due to other footballing commitments and injury. These players, he said can ease back in the team quickly as they are aware of the system the team plays. Asked about his next match, Jenkins made it clear—they need to get three points. “I need three points. Anything less is not acceptable,” he declared.

Speaking of Mantab, they were edged 1-0 by the flying S-Krave Newtown United also on Sunday. But Newtown had to wait long and hard for that winning goal, that came in the dying moment of the game—the third minute of stoppage time from Javaughn Brookes.

    In the days second match,
