Street Parade results finally in

By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes
CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – RESULTS of the Culturama Street Parade have finally been released, one week after the event took place.

Manager of the Festival Secretariat Antonio Liburd told SKNVibes that a number of factors prevented the results from being made available in a timely manner, but plans are being made to rectify them in the future.

According to Liburd, some of the judges were not familiar with some areas on their sheets as it relates to what they were looking for. This, he said, produced a number of irregularities.

Liburd said the fact that some troupes did not register for the parade also posed some problems for the judges.

Liburd also said that plans are being made to deal with these discrepancies for the next festival. These plans include workshops to ensure judges are well prepared and encouraging troupes to register early.

The results show the Odisi Band capturing the Road March title with ‘Sweetness’. The Schools’ Category was won by St. Thomas’ Primary ahead of Charlestown Primary and St. James’ Primary, in that order.

In the Fantasy Category, Youths Moving Forward beat Synergy Dancers in the Juniors’ section, Nurses Keeping You Alive beat HIV Pushers in the Adults section, and Nelson Jeffers beat Bruck 2 Beach Bash in the Ole Mas.

LEFCO Construction won the Float section ahead of Bank of Nevis (Fire Flies), while Combined Masquerades claimed the Folklore segment ahead of Sylvester Masquerade Troupe and Home Boy Masquerade Troupe.
