BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE victim of yesterday’s (Aug. 11) tragic hit-and-run accident in the Sandy Point area has been identified as 52-year-old Keith ‘Super’ Brownbill of Stapleton Village.

Brownbill, a past employee of Cable & Wireless, was employed as an engineer at Telecommunications and Electrical Cable Services (TECS) at the time of his death.

He had been contracted as a subcontractor for LIME (formerly Cable & Wireless) to construct an underground cable box in the Island Main Road immediately adjacent to the Sandy Point Market.

The middle-aged man’s life was tragically ended when he was knocked from his feet by a speeding navy-blue rental car (R 173) seconds after he had climbed from a four-foot hole in which he was working. The vehicle reportedly travelled past traffic barricades in the area and killed the engineer upon collision.

The Stapleton resident was found lying on his back with a puncture to the head and seemingly broken limbs. At about 3:20 p.m., District Medical Officer Dr. Oduntun pronounced the man dead at the scene.

Police informed that an arrest has been made in relation to the accident but to date no one has been charged for the killing. The authorities affirmed that investigations are ongoing.
