BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, December 17, 2018 (PLP PR Media Inc.) -- The Peoples Labour Party (PLP)-organised Prime Minister Dr the Hon Timothy Harris Constituency Number Seven 2018 Christmas children parties got off to a flying start Sunday December 16 with two parties held at Black Rocks in Bellevue, and in Christchurch.

Children in the two communities had started arriving at the venues as early as 1:00 pm with the very young ones accompanied by their parents, even though the parties were officially to start at 1:30 pm. The Huggins Masquerades entertained children at the two parties, as Santa Claus in the person Ms Shirmel Welcome rode in a pickup truck to go to the two venues.

However, the greatest moment for the children was when their host, Prime Minister and Area Parliamentary Representative Dr the Hon Timothy Harris arrived, first at Black Rocks in Bellevue and later at Christchurch. He was hugged and kissed by the excited children as he gave them presents. The party at Bellevue was organised by Mrs Natasha Gordon, while the one at Christchurch was organised by Ms Shanice Allen.

“I want to start by thanking the organisers and those who worked hard today to convene the first in a series of parties for Constituency Number Seven,” said Prime Minister Harris who is the National Political Leader of the Peoples Labour Party (PLP), after he distributed gift bags to children at Christchurch. “Clearly we see from all the efforts that it has borne fruits - it has been a very successful event.”

Noting that Bellevue and Christchurch, where the ball started rolling, were the smallest communities within the constituency, turnout was very impressive. He singled out Christchurch where apart from the bouncing castle they also had a number of attractive consoles for the children’s entertainment that included a miniature swimming pool.

“Christchurch has done very well in terms of the number of opportunities they have provided for the young people to recreate, to enjoy themselves and the colourful presentations that we have had,” observed Dr Harris. “So I want to thank again the team effort that led to this and to hope that the rest of the kiddies parties put on for 2018 would go equally well.”

Coordinating the parties is Ms Myrtilla Williams, the PLP’s National Secretary, and executing them are the various community groups. The next party will be held today Monday December 17 for Mansion Village at 1:30 pm, and will be held at the Estridge Primary School.

After a break of two days, the parties will resume on Thursday December 20 with two parties, one in Tabernacle at the Edgar T. Morris Primary School, and Phillip’s Village at the hard court in Estate Yard. Final three parties will be held on Saturday December 22 for Ottley’s Village at the hard courts, Lodge and Bourryeau Villages at the Band House in Lodge, and for Molineux Village at the Edgar Gilbert Sports Complex Pavilion.
