(EMU) – St. Kitts, January 10, 2019: Occupational Therapist Dr. Pilar Saa will join Dr. Sheryl Rosin, Autism Spectrum Disorder specialist on her now annual trip during which she conducts workshops to teachers and parents and provides assessments for students.
Drs Saa and Rosin will conduct a workshop on Sensory Processing difficulties in children on Friday, January 11 at the University of Medicine and Health Sciences.
The Rotary Sponsored event is also supported by the Ministry of Education and St Kitts Spectrum Services Centre (grounds of the Industrial Site Day Care Centre) where assessments will be conducted with children on Saturday January 12 from 9:00am to 4:00pm.
Sensory Processing difficulties occur in one out of 20 children and can affect their overall development in the areas of behaviour, play, social and emotional participation, motor control , as well as their ability to dress, eat and do other basic tasks independently.
Dr Saa will deliver a lecture which will introduce sensory processing and explain how to identify children who are having difficulty processing sensory information.
