BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE two individuals, who police had taken into custody on Tuesday (Jan. 8) in relation with the previous night’s shooting of three young men in St. Paul’s, were both charged for the offence.
In a media statement issued yesterday (Jan. 13), police said the duo was charged on Friday (Jan. 11) with three counts of Attempted Murder and one count of Discharging a Firearm in a Public Place.
According to reports, while seated on a wall in Lovers Lane, St. Paul’s shortly after 9:00 p.m. on the day in question, three young men, 22-year-old Calvert Francis, 18-year-old Alvin Browne and a juvenile were shot to their legs after gunmen had existed a vehicle and opened fire in their direction.
An earlier police communiqué stated that following the incident, the three victims were transported to the JNF Hospital for treatment and that two of them have since been released while the other one remains warded in a stable condition.
It also stated: “Police who were on patrol in the area at the time were able to intervene to halt the attack and, following a chase, were able to take the vehicle used in the incident into Police custody.”
Since the dawn of 2019, the twin-island Federation has recorded several shooting incidents that resulted in a number of men being hospitalised with non-life threatening injuries.
