Two held in Stapleton shooting incident

By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – AN early morning shooting incident in the Monkey Hill area has left a man nursing gunshot injuries.

Fortunately, however, the injuries are not life-threatening as police said in a statement that he was treated at the JNF Hospital and subsequently discharged.

Police have given the shooting victim’s name as Marlon Martin and stated that the incident occurred at around 7:45 a.m. today (Jan. 17) while he was driving along a road in Stapleton Garden.

Other reports reaching SKNVibes indicate that Martin was in his car outside of his home when multiple shot were fired in his direction.

Police also said that his vehicle was damaged during the incident.

Photos circulating on social media have shown that Martin’s black vehicle bore bullet holes to the front and rear windshields as well as to the driver's side.

Police have since taken two persons into custody in connection to the incident as investigations are ongoing.

They are also asking persons who might have information in relation to this incident to call the Violent Crimes Unit at 467-1887, 467-1888, or 662-3468 or the crime hotline at 707.

SKNVibes understands that this is not the first time gunmen had targeted Martin.

At about 8:23 a.m. on Friday, December 29, 2017, while driving in a westerly direction across Pond Road, Newtown in the vicinity of Neverson Street, a lone gunman emerged and fired a number of shots in his direction.

Bullets had struck the vehicle, but Martin and his passengers were unscathed.

Martin was again targeted by a lone gunman while he was residing at a residence in Sandown Road, Newtown one Sunday afternoon in July 2018.

Reports stated that the assailant had pointed a gun into the home and fired a number of shots, but no one was injured.
